How do I retrieve a document when I know its citation?

To retrieve a single document when you know its citation, follow these steps.

  1. Enter the document citation in the search box.
  2. Select Search.

To retrieve documents by citation, party name, or docket number:

  1. From the home page, select Get a Doc Assistance.
  2. Select By Citation, Cases by Party Name, or Cases by Docket Number.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the form and retrieve the documents you want.

To enter multiple citations and download or print the documents or Shepard's® reports for them, when you know the citations:

  1. Select the down arrow next to Lexis® at the top of the page.
  2. Select Get & Print.
  3. Complete the form that appears.
  4. Select Go.
