How do I compare the results of different searches?

Use the Compare Search Results option of the Research Map to compare the results of up to three different searches to find all documents common to each.

To compare the results of different searches, follow these steps.

  1. Display the Research Map by selecting Research Map at the bottom of the History pod on the home page or by selecting the History button at the top of any page and selecting Research Map at the bottom of the list that appears.
  2. In the left pane of the Research Map, find the search results you want to compare by using the Search Within History option and/or by selecting options from within the View by, Matter, and Date filters.
  3. In the right pane, select the Results icon (Results) associated with a set of search results you want to compare with another set of search results.
  4. In the Content Type dialogue box, under the Actions heading, select Select search to compare search results. The set of search results is added to the Compare Search Results list at the top of the Research Map.
    Note: To remove a set of results you have selected, select Compare Search Results at the top of the map and select the x to the right of the results set you want to remove.
  5. Repeat these steps to select up to three sets of results.
  6. Select Compare Search Results at the top of the map. The list of selected results sets appears.
  7. Select the Compare Search Results button.
