The Basic URL
The URL always begins with the protocol, host, and Application Programming Interface (API) indicator:
This is followed by specific parameters and their associated values. Parameters must be in the order shown in the URL templates and in the examples, except for the query parameters (the parameters that appear after the ? in the URL), which may be used in any order.
- As a reminder, using the API to create create an automated process or script to perform high-volume searches isn’t an appropriate use of this feature.
- New URLs will be introduced for new concepts. When a change introduces an incompatibility with an existing URL, a new URL will be added to support the change.
- If a feature has both an old and new form of a URL, and the new form is not a direct substitute, you can choose the URL you want to use.
- Retired URLs will be supported for 3 years after retirement.
