How do I troubleshoot Lexis®Library when features aren't functioning properly?

The Microsoft Corporation issued a service pack release for Windows XP® users designed to address security concerns affecting users of Internet Explorer 6 and the XP operating system. Included in the service pack are a firewall and a pop-up blocker that are defaulted to "on". This service pack may interfere with certain Lexis®Library features, such as Print Preview. If you are experiencing problems with the products, please check to see whether this service pack has been installed on your computer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on Help.
  3. Click on About Internet Explorer.

If this service pack has been installed, the Update Version on the fourth line will read "SP2".

To correct any problems you may be experiencing, add the Lexis®Library as a "trusted site" using the following steps.

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Click on Internet Options.
  4. Click on the Security tab.
  5. Click on the Trusted Sites icon.
  6. Set the Security Level to Low.
  7. Click on the Sites button.
  8. Clear the Require Server Verification box. (This may be selected again after adding Lexis®Library sites.)
  9. In Add this Web site to the zone:, enter *
  10. Click on Add.
  11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for *, *, and *
  12. Click on OK.
  13. Click on OK to close the Internet Options window.
  14. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
  15. Re-open Internet Explorer.

It is possible for Lexis®Library to have been added by your System Administrator but not be visible in your trusted sites list. To test this, open Internet Explorer and enter the following URLs one at a time in the address bar:

For each, after you type the address, look at the status bar in the bottom right of the browser window. If the status bar has a green circle with a white tick in it, the site is already a Trusted site.

If you have added Lexis®Library domains as trusted sites prior to the installation of this service pack, the service pack will not overwrite the settings and you should see no effect.

If you continue to experience problems or have any questions, please contact Lexis®Library Customer Service on +44 (0) 330 161 1234 for assistance.
