iLearning: Navigate the Results page (text only)
This tutorial module explains how to view and work with your search results with the LexisNexis® research services.
Viewing Results
After your search runs, the Results page displays the documents your search has found. The documents are listed in Publication Date order by default. Document display order may differ depending on the source.
By default your results are displayed in Expanded List View. This lists the document title, source name and publication date, plus your search terms in context. With this display, you can quickly determine if a document is relevant to your research topic.
You may also display your results in other formats. List View lists only the document title, source name and publication date for a concise overview of your results.
To display the full text of a document, select on the document title in either List or Expanded List View.
Result Groups
For searches in news sources, use the Result Groups feature to quickly find relevant documents. Result Groups are particularly helpful when your search retrieves a large number of documents.
The Result Group categories appear on the left side of the Results page, along with the number of documents in each category. You can display just those documents in a particular category by selecting the category name. The categories you can view depend on the type of materials in your search results. If you display a document in full text, you can use index terms to quickly find other documents in the same results containing similar topics.
Narrow Your Search
On the top right hand side of the page you can use the Search within results box to add additional key words or using any of the connectors and commands that you may wish to include in your results. You can always use the blue activity trail on the top left hand side of your screen to navigate back to your original results list.
My Delivery Docs Feature
You can add documents to My Delivery Docs from your results list or document view across multiple search sessions. For up to 24 hours, documents are available in My Delivery Docs. To view My Delivery Docs, select My Delivery Docs link.
From My Delivery Docs form, you can deliver some or all the documents. You can also add notes and a cite list (similar to a Table of Contents) to the delivery request. You can manipulate documents in My Delivery Docs by either deleting them from the list or by rearranging the order of the list. Alternatively you can select the alarm clock icon to create an automated alert.
