What are my options when searching for attorney, expert witness, or judge profiles?

Forming a Search

When searching for an expert witness, attorney, or judge profile, you can search by name, or you can use pre-search filters to perform a more general search. The following table describes these different options:

When searching for an expert witness...

You can:

  • Search by Expert Witness Name: If you know the full name or even a partial name of the expert witness for whom you want to search, enter it in the Search box.
  • Search using Areas of Expertise filter: If you don’t know the full name of the expert witness, or if you simply need to find any expert with a specific area of expertise, you can select the Filters drop-down list and select one or more items from the Areas of Expertise list.
Note: For even broader search results when you don't know the expert's name or area of expertise, you can select the Filters drop-down list and search using the Locations list (also available from the Filters drop-down list).
When searching for a judge...

You can:

  • Search by Judge Name: If you know the full name or even a partial name of the judge for whom you want to search, enter it in the Search box.
  • Search using Jurisdiction filter: If you don’t know the full name of the judge, or if you simply need to find a judge within a specific jurisdiction, you can select the Filters drop-down list and select one or more items from the Jurisdiction drop-down list.
When searching for an attorney...

You can:

  • Search by Attorney Name: If you know the full name or even a partial name of the attorney for whom you want to search, enter it in the Search box.
  • Search using Location filter: If you don’t know the full name of the attorney, or if you simply need to find any attorney within a specific state, you can select the Filters drop-down list and select one or more locations from the Locations list.

Pre-filtering Your Search

Litigation Profile Suite provides filtering tools to help you limit the scope of your results:

  • Pre-filter your search terms: If you have fairly specific requirements for your search, you can specify these conditions at the search form, which will limit the number of results that will be returned. For example, perhaps you are looking for expert witnesses in a specific state or with a specific area of expertise. You can specify these filters (using the Filters drop-down list) before submitting your search request.
  • Filter your search results: If you want to view a larger set of search results, you can apply your search filters after you complete your search. For example, you can filter your search results to show only those experts in a specific city or state, or you can filter on areas of expertise.
