What is the Lexis® bill tracking?
Bill tracking in Lexis® consists of two main tools, the Progress Bar, and the Legislative Outlook.
The Progress Bar provides a graphic representation of the progress of a state or Federal bill in the legislative process that appears on a bill text and bill track document. It provides an at-a-glance view of the current progress of a bill.
The Legislative Outlook is a feature that displays a statistical analysis of a bill’s probability of passage to the next stage of the legislative process. This is indicated on a bill text or track document by an icon that displays one of the following states:
- Low chance to pass next stage
- Medium chance to pass next stage
- High chance to pass next stage
- Outlook Pending
- Enacted
- Vetoed
- Failed
Select Legislative outlook in detail to see additional political intelligence regarding the factors that impact a bill’s movement. This detail includes:
- Current status of the bill's progress
- Statistical probability of passage for each stage of the legislative process, by percentage
- Current legislative session status (In session, Adjourned, No session, Session not convened)
- Partisan makeup of each legislative chamber
- Bill sponsor's name, party association, and seniority
- Bill sponsor's legislative success rate from the previous session
- Bill sponsor’s legislative success rate compared to the success rate of his or her party and chamber
