The Basic URL

Note: The information in this topic applies to Lexis® URL API users. This application programming interface (API) lets users execute tasks in Lexis® using URLs, rather than the standard user interface. Please contact your LexisNexis representative if you would like additional information about this feature.

The URL always begins with the protocol, host, and Application Programming Interface (API) indicator:

http://advance.lexis.com/api/

This is followed by specific parameters and their associated values. Parameters must be in the order shown in the URL templates and in the examples, except for the query parameters (the parameters that appear after the ? in the URL), which may be used in any order.

Notes:

  1. New URLs will be introduced for new concepts. When a change introduces an incompatibility with an existing URL, a new URL will be added to support the change.
  2. If a feature has both an old and new form of a URL, and the new form is not a direct substitute, you can choose the URL you want to use.
  3. Retired URLs will be supported for 3 years after retirement.
