How do I copy and paste selected document text?

You can use either the Copy (Quick) or Copy (Advanced) option to copy selected text from an open document to your computer's clipboard. The Copy (Quick) option enables you to simply copy the selected text to your computer's clipboard. The Copy (Advanced) option automatically includes a document citation and parallel citations as well as the copied text. You can choose whether or not format the citation as a hyperlink and whether or not to include the parallel citations.

To copy selected text from an open document, follow these steps.

  1. Use your computer's pointing device to select the text you want to copy. The selected text menu appears.
  2. Take one of these actions:

    1. Select Copy (Quick). Lexis Advance Quicklaw copies the selcted text to your computer's clipboard.
    2. Go to the next step.
    Want to include a document citation or parallel citations within the selected text
    1. Select Copy (Advanced). The Copy Selected Text to Clipboard dialogue box appears and displays the selected text below its Preview heading. Below that, it displays a document citation.
    2. Select the Copy citation as a hyperlink checkbox if you want to format the citation as a hyperlink or clear the checkbox if you want to format it as plain text.
    3. Select the Include parallel citations checkbox if you want to include parallel citations or clear the checkbox if you do not want to include parallel citations.
    4. Select Copy & Close. Lexis Advance Quicklaw copies the selected text to your computer's clipboard, including thecitations and formatting you have specified.
      Note: Before copying the text to the clipboard, you can modify the amount of text you want to copy. For example, if you do not want to copy the document citation, you can simply re-select the text you originally selected from the document.
    5. Go to the next step.
  3. Take these actions to paste the selected text into another document as it is currently formatted:
    1. Using a word processor or text editor, open the document where you want to paste the selected text.
    2. Use the word processor or text editor commands (for example, select Edit and Paste from the word processor or text editor's menu) to paste the selected text into the document.
