How do I find documents that are common to the results sets of 2 or more searches?

Use the Compare Search Results feature of the Research Map to find all the documents of the same content type that are common to the results sets of up to 3 searches.

  1. To start, do one of the following:
    • On the Lexis Advance® home page, select the History pod, then select the Research Map link at the bottom of the pod.
    • From the top of any page, select History, then Research Map.
  2. In the left pane, filter the list of searches you want to see by selecting options from the View by, Client, and Date links.
  3. In the Trails list (also located in the left pane), select the checkboxes for the searches you want to view.
  4. In the map, select a results box (Results box) under a content type (for example, under Cases).
  5. Under Actions in the Content Type box that appears, select Select search to compare search results. The search will be added to the Compare Search Results box above the map.
  6. Repeat these steps to select up to two more searches for comparison (three total).
    Note:
    • To remove a search you selected for comparison, select the Compare Search Results tray and select the X next to the search you want to remove.
    • To find documents that are common, you must select from the same content type box on the map for each search. For example, select from the Cases content type.
  7. Click the Compare Search Results (N) button. The Compare Search Results For dialog box appears.
  8. Click the Compare Search Results button. The comparison is opened.
