Perform a Basic Content Search

You can perform a broad search using the main search box on the home page, by searching all sources, content types, codes, and so forth. Or, optionally, you can apply Narrow By filters to your search to focus your search in specific areas, such as jurisdiction, content type, practice area, or topic.

To perform search at the main search page:

  1. Enter your search terms in the search box. See Developing a Search: Natural Language vs. Terms and Connectors for information about what type of search you want to perform.
  2. Optionally, to narrow your search to a specific source type or date, select All Nexis Uni to the left of the search button and select Content Collection, Cases and Codes, News, Practice areas and Topics, or Date Range from the Narrow By pane. Then select the checkboxes for the filters you want to use.
  3. Click the search button ( ).
Note: In general, the longer the search query, the less likely you are to find documents containing all the search terms you entered. Any query can result in zero documents being found, but very long queries are more likely to do so.
